Deep warm brown color, with little head. Aroma is distinctly american brown ale, very mild, sweet and malty. Flavor is also malty, slightly roasty, with a bit of hopping throughout and a touch of burnt caramel flavor. A pretty nice beer.

Carmely brown in color. Quickly diminishing head. No obvious carbonation. Sweet aroma of nuts, obviously, malt and carmel. Fairly sweet in flavor, a little tangy. Malt and nut flavors fairly apparent. Overall, a very decent brown ale.

Brown color, with a persistent creamy layer. Very light aroma. Ordinary flavor, a bit nutty.

Bottle. A deep mahogany brown color with a laced light brown head. A slight nut aroma that hints at the ultimately watery malt and nut flavor. The aftertaste is at least favorable but ultimately too late.

Had this on tap last night, my overall impression might be skewed a bit because I was at my favorite restaurant. Minimal head, a lot of malt flavor, light on the hops. Could be a bit thicker.

Deep brown color with sweet malty aromas. Nutty and rich flavors with notes of dark malt and light molasses. Perpetual chocolate flavor leads to a sweet finish. Decent, but not outstanding.

Nice color with mild aroma. Flavor is fairly sweet, although a thicker body would suit it better.

Deep brown and beautiful on the pour with a frothy head of thick foam. Nice malty sweetness intially with enough hops to balance it a bit. Disappointing finish though, with an unpleasant sticky bittersweet aftertaste left on the tongue. Best with food that can cleanse the palate of the residue. Re-rate on 2/16/05. Cleaner finish now. Offensiveness gone. Not bad for the price. Rerate on 2/14/06 - Wow. They really got this beer right this year. Excellent, excellent malt with fresh fruit notes and a kiss of hops. Full bodied with a fantastic clean finish.
