Nice clear, deep amber color. Light carbonation and medium bodied. Slight nutty nose. Starts on the sweet side with hops in background and finishes fairly smooth. $1.25 for a 12 oz bottle from Capital Convenience Cocord, NH. festus735 (8), Tomahawk, Wisconsin, USA does not count | 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Mar 8, 2006 Not really what I expected having sampled other offerings of Redhook Brewery. | 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 10/20 | Feb 27, 2006 The aroma has toasted malt, some nuts, a light hopping, and coffee. The appearance is a red brown with a foamy medium head that falls to a small one rather fast. However, it is quite persistent. The flavor is bitter sweet. I detect the toasted malt and hops up front and the nuttiness comes at the back. The palate is just thick enough to be pleasing. The only thing keeping this beer from getting a higher score is the vegetable flavor I am getting in the aftertaste. gallaghermurph (29), Washington DC, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 2/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Feb 26, 2006 Poured mahogany, with very little head, Aroma very hard to pick up, especially in a bar. Initial nutty smoked grains - but not as nutty has many nut browns - followed by lots of sweet, caramel malts, maybe some dark fruits as well. Palate was thin with a fairly lazy carbonation. A rather sweet beer, could easily put down a lot in a short amount of time. Overall, an upbeat beer that will be one of the better things on tap at most bars.
