Sep 5, 2003 Reminded me why nut brown ale is my favorite type of beer. This was excellent. Great color, nice head and aroma, great taste - sweet, but not too sweet. The last few nut brown's that I've tried haven't been all that great, but this definitely was.

Nov 29, 2007 Had this beer on 4/7/1999. Color is a deep dark rich amber with good carbonation and head. Aroma is sweet with a rich malt scent. Taste is malty and robust. It starts with a medium body that before it even goes down is showing signs of maltyness. As it goes down smoothly and a bit creamy this maltyness builds up. The finish is a rich roasted malt flavor which caries a slight sweetness followed by a gentle hop bitterness and flavor. Overall I think its excellent, it may be the best Brown Ale I’ve ever had and one of the most well balanced brews I’ve come across.

Mar 24, 2003 Updated: Feb 14, 2006Deep brown and beautiful on the pour with a frothy head of thick foam. Nice malty sweetness intially with enough hops to balance it a bit. Disappointing finish though, with an unpleasant sticky bittersweet aftertaste left on the tongue. Best with food that can cleanse the palate of the residue.
Re-rate on 2/16/05. Cleaner finish now. Offensiveness gone. Not bad for the price.
Rerate on 2/14/06 - Wow. They really got this beer right this year. Excellent, excellent malt with fresh fruit notes and a kiss of hops. Full bodied with a fantastic clean finish.

Jun 2, 2002 Yes, I know Budweiser owns a share of this company. But the beer appeals to me, nonetheless. It’s fizzy, and somewhat light and a tad sweet.

Feb 10, 2002 Really smooth, small head. Flavor and finish is pretty similar to the other redhook beers, but is not as strong.

Oct 31, 2005 It says nut brown but I didn’t pick up a nutty taste too much...which is a good thing. This is a highly drinkable, pleasant ale.
