Commercial Description:
Introducing Redhook Sunrye, a light, refreshing summer beer brewed with six barley malts, including a touch of organic rye. The opalescent golden color of Sunrye is a result of its unfiltered nature. Light and crisp, this brew was made for slaking summer thirsts.

Pours light golde with a fully receding white head. Aroma of light honey, rye, mild pils malt. Taste is lightly sweet, honey, pale malt, and rye. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with moderate carbonation.

Came across this one at a local grocery store, and I’m glad I did. It’s no a beer for sitting back and opining about the subtle undertones, just a crisp and refreshing summer ale for those long hot Louisiana afternoons. Every so often you’ll catch a bit of the rye.

Pours a slightly cloudy golden with very little head. Has a very mild aroma, with an odd smell in the back of the nose. Flavor is not as sweet as it smells, the rye was the odd smell I believe. Very light with a flavor that I am not a fan of in beers, reminds me of NB Springboard. Not a big fan of this one.

Pours a deep, clear gold with a thin white head. The aroma is light with hints of crystal malts. The flavor is also light. The tongue detects the rye along with a little caramel and a mild amount of hops. The mouthfeel is very light and a bit watery.

Bottle. Pours golden with aromas of slightly sour hay, grass and cardboard. Some faint hops in the back. Flavor of wheaty straw and grass with a corny adjunct-like sweetness. Thin and wimpy body. Not much good to expect from this.

$5.99 for a six pack on a special sale at Total Wine. This beer is pretty much in line with the commercial description, a light and crisp summer refresher. Very easy drinker, a little thin and watery as would be expected for a summer cooler. Nice mild malt flavors and a crisp spicy finish with just a bit of hop bite. Not going to rock your world but it’s a welcome lightweight on a hot summer day in Florida. Not bad.

Light medium gold with lasting head and lacing. Has a nice grainy, malty/rye sweet smell. Taste is a small bitter bite, with a light grain sweetness, and smoother, kind of watery mouthfeel in the finish. Very drinkable, lighter bodied, refreshing summer beer that I could definitely have again.

At the Old Toad. I like the taste of rye, and like it normally in beer, but it did not work out in this case. This beverage had head, lace, mouthfeel was creamy as if wheat, and good hops. Cloudy wheaty appearance. Just not all that tasty nor drinkable.
