Commercial Description:
Introducing Redhook Sunrye, a light, refreshing summer beer brewed with six barley malts, including a touch of organic rye. The opalescent golden color of Sunrye is a result of its unfiltered nature. Light and crisp, this brew was made for slaking summer thirsts.

Smells a little vinegary or sour, certainly not sweet. Looks like the ubiquitous pale yellow american lager, no head. Very little if any haze. Mild tasting with little if any bitterness. Has a sour mild hint on the center if the tongue but that fades rapidly. I’ll be surprised if this is not a pale ale. Good carbonation and it’s appreciated. Fun and interesting mild ale flavors, nearly like a clean wheat beer. Finish has barely noticeable beer effect, no bitterness and short well mannered behavior. After a few minutes, a mild industrial bitterness takes the beers final taste. As good as Pete’s Rally cap and H&H Whitetail ale. Much better than Balantine xxx and Kochs Golden Anniversary Beer

12oz bottle. Filtered with a pale golden hue. Light bready caramel aromas. Subtle citrus undertone. Light bodied with nice crisp smoothness. I literally just finished mowing the grass, and this sure does hit the spot. The malts are light and crisp and the slight rye flavor is pleasant. Medium effervescence. Mild hoppy bitter finish. This is quenching. Nice bitterness that hits the sides of the tongue. Finish is mostly clean. This is exactly what a brother needed. Nothing big or overt, but better than the macro swill.

Bottle. Slightly hazy golden with a small but lots of fizz. Aroma of lemon and sweet pale malt. A nice balance of sweet malt and bitter hop flavor. Ends very dry. Nice summer drink.

Hazy yellow pour with a minimal white head, this crisp sweet ale hits the spot on hot days like today. Like most of the types of beer that I enjoy, summertime ales do not rate well on this site. I’m not sure what reviewers are expecting when they try ales like this that are specifically designed for the summer heat. Maybe it has something to do with availability. A look at list of ’the Best’ golden ale/blond ales tells me that I can’t sample a single one in my area of my country. Maybe that’s why I believe this offering by Redhook is a helluva lot better than the 23 rating the reviewers give this.

Bottle. Lemongrass malt aroma. Medium yellow color with small head. Very light taste of rye malt is about all you get from this flavorwise with a mild hops finish. Nothing offensice - just very weak and bland.

(Bottle) Pours a golden color with white head. Not much in the way of aroma. Taste is interesting. The beer is dry, but it doesn’t really taste like rye. It’s pretty boring actually. It wasn’t that bad, but definitely not exciting.

A deep golden color with a light head. Liked the rye flavoes and the malts used. The hops where mild and nice. This was a refreshing beer for the hot days work.
