Taste of rye and lemon as well, with a bitter rye finish. I would like it a lot more if it were not dead in the mouth. Gets a couple of extra points for being low alcohol. I can drink a couple of these at a barbecue and still cook safely. But it’s interesting that Red Hook tried to go Big Time by selling its soul to Anheuser Busch and remains a mid sized but now soul-less brewer. Interesting contrast with Sam Adams. I found myself gulping this brew. The commerical description was certainly right on. I liked this one. Rvrndmaynard (47), Berkeley Heights, New Jersey, USA

This blonde ale pours a vibrant hazy golden yellow with a moderately thick head, tons of lacing, and a strong steady flow of carbonation. This beer looks impressive and delicious, and that’s about where the positives end. Aroma is a close to non-existent blend of malts with a faint hint of rye, I can’t believe how weak the scent is. Anyway time for a taste and...not bad, rather bland not at all what I was anticipating. After a few more tastes and a few more bottles the flavor is slightly more present than the aroma. Now it is a decent taste and really does come across as refreshing, but for all of the lacing I assumed there would be a nice hearty malt presence here. Slightly dry and the rye does make itself faintly known. Overall a disappointment brownaler (379), Topsail Beach, North Carolina, USA
| 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | May 8, 2007 Hazy green golden apprearance with large offwhie head. Flavor is of straw and has a hint of rye. Overall, this beer has too much carboard and chemical taste to be a good beer. bboven (103), Greensboro, North Carolina, USA
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | May 5, 2007 draft; tastes like a real rye cut with water along with a subtle dust-taste that pretty much killed this one for me. I’m not really a rye fan anyways, but this seems like a poor attempt at the style.
