Commercial Description:
Introducing Redhook Sunrye, a light, refreshing summer beer brewed with six barley malts, including a touch of organic rye. The opalescent golden color of Sunrye is a result of its unfiltered nature. Light and crisp, this brew was made for slaking summer thirsts.

Bottled April 12, 2007. Pours clear golden with small head that flits away. Aroma is sharpish grain and hops - lager like, but inoffensive. Flavor is slight malt and slight hops. Similar twang that I don’t like in Bass Ale. This beer is little better than an average lager. Palate is a tad above light, and sticky. Never had a rye that I could rave about; this one fits into that pattern.

On tap at MacGregor’s. No head or aroma to speak of. Kind of flat tasting. Was it a dirty draft line at the bar?

Best thing about this was the cool dispensing sprinkler head like that that would attach to a garden hose. This device was used to pout the draft. But unfortunately the beer was very bland, odorless and tasteless.

Really just pretty average with a small hint of rye in the aftertase. Pretty malty, but it is a Redhook! I like it, but not something that I will go for regularly....

Pours a light golden color into the glass with a quickly disappearing head. Has no aroma to really speak of, a bit of grain a pinch of hops. The flavor is about the same. I probably wouldn’t buy this beer again

Draft at Old Chicago, Downtown Minneapolis. Flavors of grain (must be the rye) with malty tones and no bitterness whatsoever -- probably why it’s not going to appeal to the everyday RedHook ESB drinker. Even I who despise super-hopped beers found this ale a touch lacking in the traditional beer flavor department. Nice smooth body for summer drinkability; maybe a touch watery. Worth a try but not a buy -- doesn’t really stack up to the better summer wheat beers.

Sampled at their brewery. Was not very impressed. It lacked flavor that most of their other brews have. The aroma was nice but i was left desiring more when I drank it. IPA and ESB are much better.

Pours a hazy yellow pale color with a small white head. Aroma is of lemony/lime grains, rye bread with a hint of malt. Unfiltered. Taste is lemony rye with a malty and grainy backdrop. Weak and not very good. Poured most of this into the toilet bowl.
