Commercial Description:
Introducing Redhook Sunrye, a light, refreshing summer beer brewed with six barley malts, including a touch of organic rye. The opalescent golden color of Sunrye is a result of its unfiltered nature. Light and crisp, this brew was made for slaking summer thirsts.

Poured an effervescent straw ith a semi-creamy white head. Awful aroma of sulfur, bad candy, and a touch of hops thrown in. Taste is exceptionally bland and would literally be on par with seltzer if a touch of dry toffee didn’t have the guts to show itself towards the end. Hi ho, hi ho, it’s down the drain you go.

Bottle. Hazy yellow gold color with a very thin white head. Aroma is very light and smells of grain and (barely) malt. Flavor is light as well tasting of fruit, malt, and grains. Mouthfeel is fizzy and the finish is weak, watery grain. This isn’t a ’knock your socks off beer, but then it doesn’t promise to be. It’s pretty much what it says, very light, crisp and thirst quenching. On those merits it’s not bad.

Redhook wasn’t kidding about this beer being unfiltered....big chunks of grain and hops floating in it. It is a nice ale....grainy with a little shot of hops. It’s a session beer alright.

Draught. Pours a very cloudy yellow-orange mango color with a thin, white head. The aroma is virtually non-existent, but smells kind of like a prairie. Fuzzy mouthfeel. The flavors are predominantly stale oranges and rye, capped with a papery finish. A bit of malt is present, but not adequately. The elements just don’t come together right in this one. I don’t recommend it.

Tap @ MacGregors in Henrietta. Very hazy yellow color with a thin white head of fluff. Aroma is grainy with a touch of citurs. This looks and smells like a cheap belgian whit. THe flavor is mild wth a light citrus backbone and not a lot else. A bit weak on the mouthfeel. Drinkable, but not really desirable.

From a keg. Slightly hazy yellow color, with a big white head the quickly fades. Aroma is lightly grainy, reminiscent of an decent American wheat with a hint of citrus. Light but refreshing body with a below average amount of carbonation (though this could be because of the tap) makes it very drinkable. Flavors start to dive off into the pale lager end, but luckily it doesn’t go too far. Decent beer for a hot day; a definite thirst-quencher.

Great summertime beer. I have used this to convert many a Corona drinker at summertime parties and such. Cloudy color with a hint of gold. Weak head and strong aftertaste.
