Commercial Description:
Introducing Redhook Sunrye, a light, refreshing summer beer brewed with six barley malts, including a touch of organic rye. The opalescent golden color of Sunrye is a result of its unfiltered nature. Light and crisp, this brew was made for slaking summer thirsts.

The old Redhook rye was pretty good, this didnt measure up. Draft at River City Beer & Seafood Festival. Light gold, good head, faint bread aroma. Papery, dry, old pepper finish. Blech.

Tap. Golden yellow appearance. Delecate and slightly off-bitter hoppy aftertaste which i enjoyed. Overall it was pretty boring. Had it on tap at the Pittsburgh Deli Company in Shadyside.

Pours a hazy yellow with a slight head that lives a trace of lace. Flavor has a hop bite to it, but I’ll be durned if there is a hops taste in it. There is a hint of malt in the finish, but it’s merely an afterthought. I detected a tinge of lemon in there somewhere, but not enough to make much of an impression. Uninspired.

Portsmouth location: on tap. This is a very refreshing summer beer. Unfortunately it came off as a little watery. Yellow, no head, almost no smell. Not a lot of flavor. It went well with my dinner because it was almost water.

Bottle. Pours a bright golden yellow, frothy head that drops to nothing, clouded by tons of tinny suspended particles. Aroma is chalky with hints of banana and light fruityness. Flavor is bland and grainy, hint of dry rye that somewhat rounds out the harsh grain flavors. Body is thin. Water would be a good substitute for this beer.

I guess i tried this at the right time. This beer goes great while BBQing for a crowd. Light and crisp with a quality hoppiness to it. Light golden in color, small head. Finishes clean with some citrus flavors. Great to whack after biting into a burger or steak sandwich.

Poured a nice golden color with a moderate white head. Milder aroma, some grains, grassy. Flavor started out a bit wheaty but got taken over by some big graininess that I did not care for. Light refreshing body. Substandard. Thats what I get for believing I might actually get some rye.
