Commercial Description:
Introducing Redhook Sunrye, a light, refreshing summer beer brewed with six barley malts, including a touch of organic rye. The opalescent golden color of Sunrye is a result of its unfiltered nature. Light and crisp, this brew was made for slaking summer thirsts.

Damn, just now am I seeing that this was bottled in June of 2003. Oh well. Aroma is of corn and grasses. Lots of Saaz presence here. Bubbly golden color with lots of tiny bubbles in a quickly dissipating off-white head. Well, theres not much to this one. I dont care how many different barley malts they used, theyre not showing up. SOme maltiness is present, with the smallest hop presence in the end. Lots of carbonation.

Bottle. Pale yellow, murky beer with plenty of scuz floating in it. Barely any head. Smells like an American Wheat,i.e., very little aroma. What aroma there is remindes me of a stale Triscuit floating in a glass of well water. A little buttered biscuit flavor with some spiciness and a dry finish. A-ha!- tastes like a Sleeman's Cream Ale mixed with Boulevard Unfiltered Wheat and Perrier. Not a good idea. Slight "I just chewed on my lawn" aftertaste. Moderately carbonated. Expected more refreshment from a summer beer. Just a little too stale tasting for quick drinking.

Light yellow pour. Not much flavor on this summertime ale. This beer has less flavor than Red Hook's Blond. At least the garden hose tap handle is cool.

Very light yellow pour, tiny head, but surprisingly lasting. Somewhat odd murkiness along with some active carbonation. Weak aroma is kind of like a hefe 'light'. I could taste the rye right off the bat, probably because I drink so much Terrapin rye ale. Other noteables include an odd wheat and yeast combination, some mild fruit... probably pear, and some very light hops in the aftertaste. Finish borders on unpleasant. A rather confusing brew. All the ingredients are there, but don't come close to jiving. Hard to explain. Given it's price (at least here), it's cheap enough to at least warrant a chance at your summer rotation, but there are a lot of other summer seasonals that are more.... solid?

Not a bad beer, but not great. It pours a decent golden color, has an average smell. The initial taste isn't so good, bu there's no aftertaste. Only slightly above average... but why drink a slightly above average beer when there are so many good ones out there?

Sweet malty aroma , not to deep . The sediment mentioned below did not please my eye. Sorry. Introduction of beer flavour was sharp, but short lived. Some yeasty aftertaste mixed with hoppy bitterness. Unrefined quality, almost brutal to my palate.
