Commercial Description:
Introducing Redhook Sunrye, a light, refreshing summer beer brewed with six barley malts, including a touch of organic rye. The opalescent golden color of Sunrye is a result of its unfiltered nature. Light and crisp, this brew was made for slaking summer thirsts.

Clear yellow color with very thin white head. Light aroma of grain and fruitiness. Very light bodied with medium carbonation. Tastes of light malts, grains, grapefruit, lemon, orange and other fruit but kind of watery overall.

Bottle. Thought this one is being judged way too harshly. Yes, it’s not the best tasting beer around but I thought it was ok and I would rockmmend it and will drink again.

(Rating #2743)

Take out the rye malt and you’ve got a classic american lawnmower beer. A thin almost astringently dry body with high levels of carbonation. Slightly grainy with a mere hint of extra-light caramel sweetness in the aftertaste, no distinguishable hop character. Slight acidic bite near the finish, phenolic character perhaps? A pitcher at the brewery produced a medium lasting head, bottled versions came out flat and thin.

Poured from bottle into tall glass. Light gold with a quickly forming but rapidly receding head. Ultimately, looks like a very flat macro (at least those usually aren’t flat). Sweet smell, some citrus and light floral character. I smell no rye or spiciness. Where is the rye? Some light citrus and wheaty malt. Not sure if there is wheat or not, but seems more likely than rye to me. Funny, sticky sweet aftertaste. Pretty high carbonation (especially considering the zero sustained head) and light body. This aftertaste is killing me; I need an American Adjunct to wipe this taste away (and I don’t care for that style either). Seriously, where is the rye?

Bottle. Clear yellow with thin white head. Very light aroma of fruit and grains. Citrus and rye flavor, though not much. Light beer, moderately refreshing, but nothing to write home about.

12oz bottle. Clear blond with a dull hue and small head. Faint grainy aroma. The flavor is light and grainy with maybe a hit of rye spice but that could be a strech. Low on bitterness, but what hop character that does exist is less than seamless. Light and refreshing for the most part, but definitely nt offering anything that would make me want to drinkable second one.
