Oakes (6853), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Mar 27, 2008 Golden-amber colour. Peachy-malty nose. Hints of pears. A little bit stiff - unbalanced booze. Deep, tasty fruitiness and a hint of caramel malts, but it’s a little simplistic. goldtwins (3730), Nesconset, New York, USA May 1, 2008 Poured a clear copper color with an off-white head. Toffee aroma with light notes of oxidized malt. Some notes of oranges in the malt. There was also a dirty quality to it and even hints of almonds. The flavor was a mix of pine and malt. IrishBoy (2123), Bakersfield, California, USA Apr 5, 2008 12 oz bottle from Porterhouse! Thanks Kevin! Nose is berry, caramel, and alcohol; clear, rusty copper with a small straw head; flavor is sweet strawberry, warm alcohol, and some hop bitterness; finish is alcohol and bitterness; not a great barleywine but a warm flavorful one; would probably be better with some age on it! mgumby10 (1624), West Palm Beach, Florida, USA Feb 4, 2008 TheCheeseman strikes again! Pours a clear copper amber, with a tiny little white head. Smells very syrupy and malty. Maybe a touch of some apple in there, but mostly sweet smelling. The flavor is quite sweet as well, but lacking a significant little bite you usually get from barley wines. You get light alcohol heat from the 9.8% mostly in the finish, but wasnt stinging on the palate. Alot of boring caramel malts and apple citrus like you usually get, but this beer is lacking on something. Immy (1555), Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA Aug 12, 2008 12 oz bottle, Limited 2007 Release. Clear copper with a small off white head. Citrus and fleashy fruit nose - orange and peach - with some sweet, syrupy malt and alcohol. A phrase, "maltarded", was coined awhile ago, and it partially applies here. Big, sweet, syrupy malt with a distinct orange hop edge. Thick, syrupy body. It’s very simple, and on a simple level, it works. A barleywine with training wheels.
