Commercial Description:
Deep golden hued, with subtle hints of vanilla, clove, and cinnamon. Fruity, spicy, and warming with a complex but soft malt character. Editor’s Note: Limited edition summer seasonal for 2009 but pilot batches were available at fests and the brewpub prior to this release.

Pours cloudy orange amber, headless. Full body, minimal carbonation. Some spice, but lots of orange peel. Seems too sweet.

Batch 002. Yeasy and banana aroma. Pours clear golden, no head. Sweet, yeasty and fruity. Thin body with alcohol finish.

Interesting beer. I’m impressed. Poured with a nice white head and a little lace. Color is a clear amber. Aroma is a little mild; not much of the Belgian aromas, but nice. Flavors and body are on the soft side, sweet with bitter overtones. Alcohol is sneaky. Great body and carbonation. Finish is easy. Oddly in spite of the alcohol it’s almost a session brew.

(bottle - 22 oz) Managed to save some of this from when the possum in the garage battled my beer shelf. Bastard. Dark copper color with not much head. Aroma is sweet and malty with a nice hint of spices and some vanilla. Flavor is very big and malty. Mild spice but a ton of sugar and malt with some spicy yeast. I can detect very mild vanilla at the end, but mainly it’s sweet malts and light yeast. Some bitterness coming through at the end. Thanks to David for this one.

Golden amber with minimal head that still provides lacing. Big nose of alcohol, yeast and butter caramel. Flavour is alcohol, flowery yeast and dusty musty fruit flavour.

Clear gold appearance with a small, off white head and little lacing. Sweet, yeasty aroma with hints of soft fruit and spice. Candi sugar sweet taste, a decent malt backbone, somewhat herbal, with the spicyness showing up, especially in the aftertaste. Smooth, medium bodied, modestly carbonated mouthfeel. Little alcohol burn despite the high abv. Moderate length finish.

Almost no aroma, just a very faint unpleasant note?? Medium orange color with poor head. Decent flavor, though very light on the usual spiciness of a tripel. Body is full but carbonation is weak. Alcohol is extremely well hidden. Hard to believe it’s 10.2%.

22 oz bottle. Bottled May 21, 2009. Amber brown pour with minimal head. Cloudy at first but cleared up over time. Smells spicy - peppery, cinnamon. Also some fruits - for such a light-colored beer, the scents of dark fruit prevail. Taste is similar to the smell. Drinks very easy for a tripel. Despite the ratings here, I was quite impressed. Redhook doesn’t really garner the most respect, but I liked it.

22oz bottle. Pours orange in color with thin white head. Aroma spicy and sweet. Taste spicy, yeasty and hoppy with dry finish.
