The bottle is pretty neat, textured almost with a bead blasted finish on it. The beer itself pours out a yellow color with a white colored head on it. Smell is yeasty and full of bread and sugars. Some alcohol is noticeable in the smell. In the taste the alcohol is far more pronounced with an almost burning as you drink it. As it warms up I believe it gets worse. This was not a very good beer..

Color is a clear amber. Aroma is a little mild; not much of the Belgian aromas, but nice. Flavors and body are on the soft side, sweet with bitter overtones. Alcohol is sneaky. Great body and carbonation. Finish is easy. Oddly in spite of the alcohol it’s almost a session brew. zach8270 (2137), Henrietta, New York, USA

Bastard. Dark copper color with not much head. Aroma is sweet and malty with a nice hint of spices and some vanilla. Flavor is very big and malty. Mild spice but a ton of sugar and malt with some spicy yeast. I can detect very mild vanilla at the end, but mainly it’s sweet malts and light yeast. Some bitterness coming through at the end. Thanks to David for this one. presario (3010), Calgary, Alberta, Canada
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 13, 2009 Golden amber with minimal head that still provides lacing. Big nose of alcohol, yeast and butter caramel. Flavour is alcohol, flowery yeast and dusty musty fruit flavour. guzzler67 (1288), Hanover, Maryland, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 11, 2009 Clear gold appearance with a small, off white head and little lacing. Sweet, yeasty aroma with hints of soft fruit and spice. Candi sugar sweet taste, a decent malt backbone, somewhat herbal, with the spicyness showing up, especially in the aftertaste. Smooth, medium bodied, modestly carbonated mouthfeel. Little alcohol burn despite the high abv. Moderate length finish. DigitalMan (119), Idaho, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Dec 6, 2009 Almost no aroma, just a very faint unpleasant note?? Medium orange color with poor head. Decent flavor, though very light on the usual spiciness of a tripel. Body is full but carbonation is weak. Alcohol is extremely well hidden. Hard to believe it’s 10.2%. pete4999 (161), Buffalo, New York, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Dec 6, 2009 22 oz bottle. Bottled May 21, 2009. Amber brown pour with minimal head. Cloudy at first but cleared up over time. Smells spicy - peppery, cinnamon. Also some fruits - for such a light-colored beer, the scents of dark fruit prevail. Taste is similar to the smell. Drinks very easy for a tripel. Despite the ratings here, I was quite impressed. Redhook doesn’t really garner the most respect, but I liked it.
