| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 31, 2007 Bottle. Pours a brilliant amber/orange hue. Tan head with minimal lacing. Aroma of malty roastiness with some bubblegum and sweet candy. Flavor is roasty and very dry with some residual candy notes as well. A decent brew but nothing to rock the socks during winter. hellbilly (1566), scottsdale über alles, Arizona, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 14/20 | Dec 31, 2007 tap @ papago. pours a clear brown shade of amber with a fluffy off white head that leaves spots of pillowy lacing. aroma is a rather bland mix of wood, caramel/brown sugar and generic spiciness. mild flavors of caramel, spicy hops, nuts and a salty element. dry bitter finish helps a bit to keep the sweetness in check. thin to medium body and mouth feel . vmilaxer29 (144), Virginia, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Dec 28, 2007 Smells somewhat musky, but has a great spicy taste that is signature of a good winter brew. Can definitely taste the hops that gives this beer it’s bold start but lingering finish. Eyedrinkale (3209), Astoria, New York, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Dec 27, 2007 Spicy aroma with a surprising tight, white head. Flavor has some decent ESB qualities. In fact, the first few sips are vanilla cake-ish.. michael-pollack (2749), King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, USA
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Dec 26, 2007 12oz. Bottle: Sweet, herbal aroma. Smells of herbs, caramel, toasting, dough, and a little spice. Poured amber in color with a small tan head that diminished. Good lacing. Clear. Not sparkling. Flavor is sweet. Tastes of dough, caramel, malts, toasting, and nuts. Light to medium body. Thin, watery texture. Soft carbonation. Malty, salty finish. Overall, pretty bad. Gregis (1136), Shawnee, Kansas, USA
| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 8/20 | Dec 23, 2007 Pours a crystal clear copper with a frothy, beige head that subsides, leaving behind patchy lace. The nose is tainted by a slightly phenolic (plastic bag) note over light caramel and faint, earthy hops. Light to medium-bodied, with soft carbonation, the palate concludes with a dry and slightly astringent finish. Fairly bland, the flavor is of faint caramel behind dull, earthy hops and metal. This one is pretty much like a sub-par amber ale with the hops tuned up just a notch. It just doesn’t work for me.
