Nov 24, 2007 Updated: Dec 28, 2007Single from Total Wine. Had this just before Thanksgiving dinner and was disappointed. Dull and flavorless. It’s a drinkable beer but there is no excitement. And 5.58% is a long way from ’strong’. So boring I almost didn’t finish it. I sure am glad I didn’t buy the six pack.

Nov 24, 2007 Bottle. Aroma is slightly floral with a hint of citrus hops. Pours copper with a thin khaki head. Grassy and leafy on the palate. Mild bitterness with a thin maltiness. Thin to medium bodied. Decent bitter finish.

Nov 18, 2007 12 oz bottle from Bevmo. This is the winter 2007 brew. This beer pours a translucent copper color with a frothy off-white head that recedes to nothing in about five minutes. As the head dissipates it does leave some lacing on the glass. The Aroma is medium in strength with caramel, citrus, hops, and sawdust. The flavor is malty with biscuits, light caramel, yeast, and a smattering of biter hops. The mouthfeel is a bit thin up front but fills-out to a pasty conclusion. The finish is short and dry with a lingering sweetness. Overall: This used to be one of my favorite winter brews about 5-6 years ago, but its character has gradually changed over the years and it is now hardly recognizable as the beer it once was. Recommended with reservations.

Nov 17, 2007 draught at xaviers in san diego.. amber red color with a decent frothy head.. medium body initial tug to the palate with hints of cherry shards along the way.. the carbination pushes back any other hoppyness. some pine flavoring tries to emerge.. decent finish but nothing great

Nov 11, 2007 Pours with a five finger off-white head leaving a good lace. Nice crystal clear amber color. The nose is hoppy with some spices. Light-medium carbonation and medium bodied. Flavor is a mellow blend of spices with a nice hop backbone. Decent winter ale. $1.50 for 12oz from Capitol Convenience, Concord, NH.

Nov 9, 2007 Amber in color, and little head, with mild carbonation. Nice balanced hoppy flavor and finished smooth.
