I haven’t met an ESA I didn’t like, and this one was no exception. Full flavored and wonderfully bittered with hops, Winter Hook went down like candy on a Wisconsin night that has seen a whole lot of snow. I miss the clear orange/red hue of Winter Hook in my glass already. I love winter beers.

Date: 11/14/2008 Source:12 oz botle from Food Lion Grassy floral hop nose. Amber brown clear with small white head. Grassy floral hops over carmelized malt sweetness. Somewhere between a IPA and Pale Ale character. Clean mostly dry finish with touch of residual bitterness. Not bad but nothing really outstanding.

Red-brown pour with a fizzy head that’s gone quickly. Aroma and flavor of roasted caramel malt, spice, and a touch of grapefruity hops. Not bad.

Copper red, clear body with a thin whitish head that is gone instantly. Spicy winter warmer type aroma, cinnamon, big malty backbone. Solid body, taste is big spices with a solid sweet malt body cinnamon, nutmeg, light caramel, toffee.

On tap @ brewery. Deep reddish brown pour, decent head. Peaty gritty vibe, and a lightly toasted body. Good balance with a bittering hop presence. Solid.

Tap @ Tigin, Stamford, CT. Very earthy aroma and flavor with hop and mellow roasty malts. A little syrupy palate. Not bad.
