Commercial Description:
Redhook Winter Folly is a very big brew, and not for the timid or light at heart. A starting gravity of 1083 means this beer comes in at nearly 8.5% alcohol by volume (ABV). This brew is very rich and overflows with 7 different types of complex specialty malt notes. It also uses a mixture of hops, featuring the Chinook variety, which has a very distinct spicy note that cuts through all those malt notes to leave you wanting more.

This is definitely the strongest of the beers available from Redhook. It pours a beautiful deep reddish-brown color with a light brown, low volume head. There is little to no carbonation. Strong sweet aroma that smells of caramel. The Folly has a medium sweet, smooth taste that finishes sour and dry. The alcohol is abundantly evident in the aftertaste. This beer is very nice on the palette. Winters Folly is the first in the ’Brewers Tap’ series. Only available in the Cataqua Brewpub in limited quantities.
