Commercial Description:
Hefeweizen is a Bavarian term for cloudy wheat beer. Wheat is our most popular grain, so it isn’t surprising that it has been used to produce beers for many hundreds of years. Redoak’s Hefeweizen is brewed using a large proportion of wheat malt, subtle hopping and a classic Bavarian strain of wheat yeast that gives this beer its distinct flavour profile with hints of banana and cloves.

Hazy pale yellow colour with spritzy white head, mild corriande aroma. Big peppery spicey mouthfeel that lingers for some time. Those Belgians had better watch out!!!! :)

Pale, almost straw colour. Aroma is a blend of sweet and sour yeast with hints of banana and green herbs. flavour is the same but intensified. Fizzy mouthfeel where the flavours come through at the end with a sweet finish when the initial aromas are experienced in taste after it has gone down. Lacking flavour in my opinion.

Bottle. It is now called an organic hefeweizen on the label. Cloudy pale yellow beer with generous white head. Medicinal nasal aromas of yeasts and cloves. Disparate flavours of citrus banana cloves and wheat malts. Tingly mouthfeel with medium sweet finish. They use imported Weihenstephan yeast to make this but it is not a patch on the original IMHO.

Bottle (330ml) 5%. Poured a hazy straw yellow with a domed, white, fluffy head (very ice cream like) which was mostly lasting. Aroma was of funky yeasty malts with strong notes of cloves and dried banana, some lemon zest, creamy pears and coriander. Flavor was of slight sour yeasty malts (sourdough) with some crisp apples, lemon zest, dried banana’s and some cloves and coriander in the finish. Light bodied with medium carbonation, a dry/creamy mouthfeel, watery texture and an ok finish.

Cloudy golden color, but odd hop profile in the nose. Light and refreshing, but aftertaste is too hars. Not really to style.
