Commercial Description:
Hefeweizen is a Bavarian term for cloudy wheat beer. Wheat is our most popular grain, so it isn’t surprising that it has been used to produce beers for many hundreds of years. Redoak’s Hefeweizen is brewed using a large proportion of wheat malt, subtle hopping and a classic Bavarian strain of wheat yeast that gives this beer its distinct flavour profile with hints of banana and cloves.

I don’t normally like hefeweizens, this is an exception. Banana aroma is muted, not as sweet as many, the palate almost has a lemony acidity, yet retains fullness and body. Such a refreshing balance compared to many sickly sweet hefes I’ve tried.

Put simply, they have done their homework. All the attributes of a good hefe are here. Cloudy light yellow and clean head, big banana and clove esters and good sharpness in the flavour. Roll on summner.

Tap @ Redoak. Initial burst of yeast comes from the creamy, frothy head. Below this lies the banana, which is quite strong but not over the top. The cloves were there but less noticeable after becoming saturated in the nose. Nice flavour, with some finishing bitterness making it more-ish and a slightly spicy aftertaste topping it off. Definitely one of their best.

Hazy pale yellow colour with spritzy white head, mild corriande aroma. Big peppery spicey mouthfeel that lingers for some time. Those Belgians had better watch out!!!! :)

Bottled. Golden colour, rich head. Banana aroma. Medium sweet with balanced esters and soft mouthfeel. A refreshing, well made hefeweizen.
