Betty (231), Walgett, NSW, Australia Oct 20, 2004 How annoying: i had to take the first few sips of my half litre of this at the bar because the guy who served it said "have a go of that". That was the idea butt face. Last time I chat with these dudes! they’re all hospitality boys with no beer smarts. This is the worst hefewiezen I can recall having. Weird capers flavour. Couldn’t see any yeast either. "MMM" I think I said.
beerledgend (807), Meadowbank Auckland, New Zealand Aug 11, 2008 Hazy pale yellow colour with spritzy white head, mild corriande aroma. Big peppery spicey mouthfeel that lingers for some time. Those Belgians had better watch out!!!! :) MBison (442), Southern Highlands, Australia Jun 29, 2008 Bottle (330ml) 5%. Poured a hazy straw yellow with a domed, white, fluffy head (very ice cream like) which was mostly lasting. Aroma was of funky yeasty malts with strong notes of cloves and dried banana, some lemon zest, creamy pears and coriander. Flavor was of slight sour yeasty malts (sourdough) with some crisp apples, lemon zest, dried banana’s and some cloves and coriander in the finish. Light bodied with medium carbonation, a dry/creamy mouthfeel, watery texture and an ok finish. TimE (1065), Tokyo, Japan Jun 8, 2008 Cloudy golden color, but odd hop profile in the nose. Light and refreshing, but aftertaste is too hars. Not really to style. Muggus69 (281), Sydney, Australia Apr 27, 2008 330ml bottle from bottleo. Big foamy while head atop at effervescent slightly hazy pale straw body. Grainy wheat nose, subtle spice and some acid notable. Lively carbonation, body is quite thin and dry, quite tart. Bready malt dominant on the body, some clove apparently with what i’d best describe as citrus fruitiness bring forth some sourness. Not a great hefeweizen, seems closer to a berliner weisse actually. Oakes (7030), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Jan 6, 2008 Very pale. Took some work to get any sediment out of the bottle and into my glass. The head didn’t hold. It’s billed as Weihenstephan yeast, full-on Bavarian but it smells Berliner to me with that clean tartness and vague gooseberry notes. Vaguely tart on the palate with hints of lime. Not a bad beer, but not remotely Bavarian.
