beerledgend (853), Meadowbank Auckland, New Zealand Aug 11, 2008 Vegemite black in colour with toffee coloured head. Chocolate aroma with metalic follow though. Fruity cascadehop mouthfeel, thin body.
TimE (1111), Tokyo, Japan Jun 8, 2008 Pitch black color. Light brown head. Coffee, treacles, molasses and toffee notes. Very nice. However, the body is thin and unbalanced with dark fruit and chocolate cake. Chocolately finish. Starts nice, but goes nowhere fast. bluevegie (1853), Perth, Australia Apr 30, 2008 Tried on tap at Redoak back in march after one of their beer dinners. Almost black body with a light tan head that hung around for a fair while. A little grainy on the aroma then followed by coffee notes. Taste was pretty much similar although there was some burnt characters in there as well. MBison (449), Southern Highlands, Australia Jan 10, 2008 Draught at the Redoak. Waited a good 20 odd minutes before consumption, it could have done with longer. Arrived black with a average size light brown head which lasted quite well. There was a robust aroma of burnt coffee like malts with some dark chocolate and hints of raisins. Flavor was mainly espresso coffee with hints of molasses and light notes of dark chocolate in the back. Medium bodied with soft carbonation, a creamy mouthfeel and a finish which was a little short. bozoNZ (393), Christchurch, New Zealand Jun 1, 2007 Complimentary at the brewbar. Thanks Janet, you’re a sweetie! Let it sit for about 90 mins to warm. Very coffee crema head. Roast malts, toast and slight peat aroma. Nice dry flavours but thinned towards the end which was a little disappointing. Pretty good overall though.
