Mild sweet tangy flavor that coats the mouth with a great after taste. Pretty good stuff. First beer of the day at the Belgium Beer festival, Pizza Port Carlsbad CA. Aromas of sour fruit, sweet malt and honey. Flavors are sweet up front with more sour fruit and honey. Decent stuff, nothing to go crazy over. CaryTheDude (1113), Longmont, Colorado, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 24, 2008 Draught No head, purplish cloudy orange-brown liquid. Very fruity, blackcurrant/raspberry; fruit- and other woody acids. Again raspberry/blackcurrant; quite tart (served too cold), but it misses some obvious fruit OR wood. Sharp, tart, I suspect pretty much alcohol. Nice, if it hasn’t taken all the good sides from both. BeerandBlues2 (3223), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA

Pours clear light ruby with spare, fizzy, white head, diminishing with no lacing. Aroma is light malt (hay, straw), light hops (flowers), light yeast (earth) with notes of cherry and honey. Medium bodied, creamy texture, soft carbonation, and a sweet finish. Average duration, light sweetness, moderate acidity and bitterness. A nice blend of the two; La Folie bitters up the mead nicely. | 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 6, 2007 Boulder Strong Ale Fest 2007. Body is medium amber. Aroma is notes of cherry, berries, honey, and wood. Flavor is heavily sweet, lightly to moderately acidic. Finish is moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Medium body, watery/syrupy texture, lively carbonation, lightly alcoholic. Unfortunately the sum of the parts is less than either component...La Folie is nice, and Redstone’s straight mead is nice, but this is just random. Not bad, mind you...just doesn’t work that well together. Murphy (1759), Fort Collins, Colorado, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 17, 2007 Boulder Strong Ale fest 2007. Mix of black raspberry mead and La Folie, apparently. No head, color is a clear orange-red. Aroma is tangy like La, but this is much more dumbed down. Taste is a fast sour, followed by a syrupy raspberry. Light sour finish. Body is thicker, sweet. Seems like every time someone tries to improve upon La, they end up making an inferior product. Leave La Folie alone!
