Commercial Description:
This is our first mead released in July 2001. To-date we receive more requests and attention for Black Raspberry Nectar then for any other one of our meads! With the mouth feel and texture of beer and the light taste of a lower alcohol mead this beverage is the very definition of "refreshing".

Smelled like a berry soda, or candy. Flavor was very sweet, like a wine cooler, without the fizz. Very fruity, but too sweet and syrupy. ABV noticed as it warmed.

Bottle. Pours a still ruby red. Only a fleeting bubble or two on the surface. Nose is berry-ish but not really overpowering and doesn’t have much honey aroma either. The taste is a soft honey mead with raspberry preserves added. That’s the easiest way for me to describe it. Body is light and dry towards the end. Very slick feel as well. Finishes with more berry notes, light honey-ish flavors and mild alcohol. Overall, it’s not too sweet or honey flavored. There’s some soft berry notes, but otherwise it’s kind of tame.

Thanks to kp or was it aracauna for sharing this at the room tasting following the RFD tasting. Clear diluted cherry red with no head. Fresh berry aroma, little to no honey. Light and fruity, not overly sweet.

From bottle, post RBSG RFD tasting, enjoyed in the company of aracauna, springslicker, kp, and Hopscotch. Pours a clear bright blush red. Aroma is sweet with raspberry, honey, and lighter floral notes. Flavor is semi-sweet with a nice black raspberry flavor. Mouthfeel is light and crisp. Pretty nice. My first rated true mead, so not really sure what all I’m looking for, but I guess that’s the point of the journey.

Pours a clear purple and with soda-like carbonation. A bit of a fruit soda aroma. Very little of the extected mead or honey aromas of most of the meads I’ve had.

On tap @ Brew Kettle 3/15/06: Ruby red cranberry juice appearance, slight CO2 presence from the tap. Honey aroma is very strong w/ a floral blackberry notes. Lighty alcohol presence and spicyness; pretty straight forward. Light raisiny red wine flavor w/ a bit of sourness and sulphury yeast. Blackberry fruit is evident, but subtle. Well balanced overall and carries into the finish w/ a bit of semi sweetness in the aftertaste. Medium bodied, smooth, with a bit of astringency ot keep if from being slick. Well hidden alcohol in the mouth. Nice drinkability. Not too sweet or overly fruity to make it a one glass drink

This is is like an alcoholic soda. Pink color with no head. Raspberry apple juice aroma. Raspberry flavor with a hint of alcohol in the finish. Very thin. Alcoholic soda pop.

500 mL swing top. Underwhelming aroma but nice strong honey flavor. Raspberry flavor balanced but not quite right - I think needs more acid for tartness. Carbonation too low. Decent overall melomel.
