Commercial Description:
This is our first mead released in July 2001. To-date we receive more requests and attention for Black Raspberry Nectar then for any other one of our meads! With the mouth feel and texture of beer and the light taste of a lower alcohol mead this beverage is the very definition of "refreshing".

Clear ruby, headless, spritzy. I must say they did a good jod at extracting black raspberry flavours. It’s precisely what it tastes. On the other hand, it’s not all it tastes. It’s also kinda rough in the finish, with leafy, woodsy undertones that follow the rather waxy honeyed start. Vinous, but fairly carbonated. It is had to approach a fruit-flavoured mead. You expect it to be sweet, but you’d rather not have it sticky and spritzy + the wax note does not feel too classy. I can’t quite give it a 3, but I found it a pleasant surprise.

On tap at Papago Brewing in Scottsdale AZ. Pours a reddish pink color with no head. Smells lke honey, raspberries and robitussin. Taste is sweet, raspberry, and robitussin. Maybe I just don’t have a taste for meads but I didn’t enjoy this one very much. It wasn’t terrible, but there are many other things that I’d rather drink over this one.

Poured a still purple amber color. Aroma of plastic, perhaps some metal, honey, and berries. Taste was sweeter honey up front, with berry, and cardboard. Alcohol was hidden.

500ml swingtop shared courtesy of weeare138. Poured a clear purple tinted color with a very small sized head. Aromas of plastic beachballs, with maybe some berries int he background. I just couldn’t get past that nasty plastic aroma. Tastes of berries, lighter plastic, honey, and fruity.

sampled on tap at the San Diego Strong Ale Festival Nov 2008, an event shared with what seemed liked hundreds of ratebeerians and enjoyed mostly through a straw, since my face was a bloody mess of scabs and stitches. poured pink like a shirely temple. sweet fruity aroma. flaovr was berry and honey, pretty much what you’d expect. after a day of imperial stouts, BW and IIPA this was quite refreshing, but not spectactular.

terrible in every way...cherry red body that is completely translucent...aroma of light berry, honey, fruit punch Kool-Aid (or perhaps Tahition Treat pop)..awful Kool-Aid tasting, viscous body..almost like drinking melted Jello, or maybe a watered-down slurpee...yuck!

Pours cherry-red with a very small, quickly-disappearing head. Berry-honey aroma with that touch of paper that must be a byproduct of honey fermentation. A tad medicinal. Flavor begins with a blast of berry which quickly settles down into nothingness. It comes back for the finish, alongside a more traditional mead flavor. Interesting, maybe, but not particularly good.
