The aroma is a combination of tart blackberry and red wine. The flavor is floral honey and some black raspberries. The alcohol can be felt in the nose. There is some residual honey flavor on the palate as well. Medium-light body with some faint carbonation which was a bit weird. I really enjoy mean, but this one wasn’t that great in my opinion.
Draught? (250 mL glass) at The Brew Kettle in Stongsville, Ohio. Rating #67 for this mead... wetherel (1628), Encinitas, California, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 29, 2007 My first mead rating. No head and no bubbles whatsoever. Red Koolaid color. Sweet. Slight alchohol taste, but covered with sweetness. Smell is very, very light. Maybe a little bit of cranberry, but difficult to tell especially with no carbonation. Not too drinkable with the alchohol and sweetness (and I love sweetness), but maybe with some cheese. kkearn (1003), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA

As expected, raspberry is the dominant flavor, with some honey sweetness in the background. Mildly effervescent. Refreshing, accessible, and not as intense as most of the meads I’ve sampled. Deep reddish color with a great fruity aroma. This was a great after dinner drink for me. The flavors where thick with fruit and very sweet to the mouth feel. A very refreshing drink and great for those who do not like beer but ore like a sweet wine. Good stuff.

Again, a nice raspberry nose and body mingled with the dry honey taste. But as with the other nectar series, I could have lived without the carbonation. nick76 (2668), Tampa, Florida, USA
