Commercial Description:
Like our signature Black Raspberry Nectar, this too is medium. However, the addition of boysenberry puree creates a slightly dryer, crisper mead. This mead definitely has gathered a cult following.

The aroma is sweet and fruity with a plastic like honey smell. The appearance is pink with no indication of carbonation. The flavor is like the aroma. The palate definitely has carbonation but is thin. Overall it’s tasty.

Tasted at the fifth annual Colorado Wine Tasting Festival in Manitou Springs, CO. I’m not overly familiar with the characteristics of boysenberry, but this did have a nice berry characteristic in both the nose and the body. Coloration was a little lite and the body would benefit greatly from eliminating the carbonation in their nectar series.

At the 2007 Big Beer, Belgians, & Barleywines Festival in Vail. Pours a sparkling light pinkish amber with no head. Strong boysenberry pancake syrup aroma with a dry, slightly tart berry and honey flavor. Very different andf very good.

Bottle (small sample) at the GABF, Colorado Convention Center 01/10/2005 Clear amber coloured with what I presume boysenberry aroma and flavour (first time I’ve tried this fruit and it tasted similar to raspberry to me). Crisp on the palate with a slightly warming finish.

NIce presentation with the flip top and cobalt bottle. Pours nearly still, clear and pink. Honey aroma is strong and floral. It has some chardonney qualities also. Very prominent honey flavor. The boysenberry is barely detectable. Clean and sweet. Finishes fast. Elegant and less cloyingly sweet than others I’ve had. Quite tart for a mead.

Flavor: sweet, light, crisp boysenberries and watermelon, sugar flavoring
Palate: very smooth, coats the mouth, light honey taste

Head is initially small, fizzy, white, fully diminishing. Body is light red. Aroma is light notes of honey, raspberry, blackberry, hint of alcohol. Flavor is heavily sweet, moderately acidic. Finish is moderately sweet, moderately acidic. Medium body, watery/syrupy texture, fizzy carbonation. Better than the Sunshine Nectar for sure, and though likely made from the same base mead, none of the off notes found in that sample. Very mild aroma, and the expected soda pop mouth experience (fizzy, sweet and fruity). Drinkable, but not really for serious meadheads.
