This medium-dry metheglin is fermented by Montrachet yeast, flavoured with juniper berries and made from a mix of orange blossom and desert blossom honey. Presentation: Cobalt-blue flip-top bottle. Pours a clear light gold. 12% ABV. Nose: Caramel and fresh honey sweetness, some generic fruit and more honey. Taste: Starts with a clear semi-sweet floral honey taste, progressing to a juniper-influenced middle and a short, dry, slightly spicy finish. Overall: Excellent. Not too sweet, well-balanced, with just the right amount of juniper.

Pale, glossed and tinted yellow, emitting sharp nectary ruminations of cotton blossom, honey comb, alcohol swabs, freesia, boysenberries and clover touches. Thick apple butter with smooth cornmeal soothes for a seductive flavor, complimented by toasted coconut and vanilla-almond sweetening. Moderate hotness surfaces but then smoothes away to buttery amaretto traits. Delicious vanilla and almond dance across the tongue. Such a wonderful sipper, finishing out with buttery almonds, sweet toasted coconuts and homemade apple butter. Big thanks to BBB63 for sharing!

Redstone Mead Promo @ Papago The color on the pour a translucent gold with the aroma of honey and orange blossoms with hints of pine a real treat to sniff these meads. Taste is that of honey fresh from the hive, sweet orange and a the spicy flavor of the Juniper Berries at the end, quite dry and a real ‘tummy warmer”, WOW what a treat, as I sample more and more of these marvelous concoctions I’m more impressed each time. What a great aperitif, as the sweetness just doesn’t lend it self to sampling to many glasses at anyone time, and of course the high ABV also comes into play.

Clean golden hue with some oily legs, no head of course. The aroma is very fruity with juniper and strawberry at the forefront. Additionally there is a honey and phenolic vapor to be found as well. The taste is alcoholic and winey with spices and fruit the main characteristic. Deep rich sugar found throughout. The mouth feel is biting and tart. I like this, I found the juniper a welcomed addition.

Cloudy yellow pour into a wine glass. Smells like honey and white wine. Taste is very sweet upfront with a dry white wine finish. Hints of sweet honey, berries, and cedar. The honey is balanced perfectly with the dry sake like finish. I gotta get my hands one some more bottles from Redstone.

August 30, 2004 vintage. Thanks to Mike. The mead pours to a pale yellow body. The aroma is huge. Sweet honey and juniper. The flavor is sweet honey, juniper, flowers. Nice texture on the palate and not overly alcoholic. 8, 3, 8, 4, 15 = 3.8

Honey, spicy aroma. Pours blonde, white wine-esk. Juniper berries come through nicely, mixed honey sweetness, kind of spicy. Very interesting.

Dark straw color with smaller legs. Sweet and acidic fruit aromas coated with honey along with a hint of gin and alcohol. Rather simple honey flavors bolstered by toasted almonds and, mild apples and candi. Finish has a a light spice along with a dash of refreshing/cleansing juniper. Interesting stuff.
