Redstone Nectar of the Hops (Hops on Mead)

Pours a clear yellow with a small fizzy white head. Aroma is hops, honey, touch of spices, a little floral and earthy. Flavor is honey, a quite distinct hop flavor, and citrus. Nice mead.

GABF 2009. Very interesting - a hopped mead. Clear golden yellow color with a fairly fizzy white head. Aroma is honey, spice, and citrusy hops. Flavor is more of the same with citrusy hops and some light fruits. Palate is medium-light and carbonation is fairly high. Pretty good overall.

Kinda surprised by the low score. This is actually quite nice and refreshing. Not overly honey on the aromas and flavors. Nice sweet citrusy smell and light on the palate. The carbonation is a good touch. Overall I found it very good.

Unknown Date: Redstone Nectar of the Hops has a very pale golden/straw color. Its appearance reminds me of an American macro light lager. The aroms is moderately sweet with nice honey characteristics and is lightly citrusy. There is a good amount of honey flavor in the front with a light clover spiciness as well as a touch of citrus flavor. This mead has a very light amount of carbonation and a medium-light body that is neither too heavy nor too stick. Overall this is the best Redstone offering that I have had so far...

On tap at O’Briens a few days back. Bizarre. Aroma of honey, bread and fruit. Not picking up much hopping here. Flavor was a bit more, but the flavor tasted like a strange sweet tart. Really sweet, really fruit, and really strange. Not sure I’d want to drink this one again, but it was an interesting try.

Surprised at the low scores. I found this really nice and refreshing. The dry hopping gave it a really nice finish and solid flavor.

Bottle. Clear pear yellow colored body, effervescent and bubbly, small white layer of carbonation on top. Overly sweet nose of pears, a little acetone, mostly just a general honey smell... flavor is no different. Has a slight bitterness, the dry-hopping imparts a minor flavor and aroma of dried grass... nothing remarkable about this mead at all. Couldn’t drink much of it.
