Cask Stillage from the Jug at the GABF, Colorado Convention Center 26/09/2009 Fruit hop aroma. Clear coloured strong in alcohol and hoppy with some blueberry fruit flavour. Big floral finish.

Bottle. Clear pear yellow colored body, effervescent and bubbly, small white layer of carbonation on top. Overly sweet nose of pears, a little acetone, mostly just a general honey smell... flavor is no different. Has a slight bitterness, the dry-hopping imparts a minor flavor and aroma of dried grass... nothing remarkable about this mead at all. Couldn’t drink much of it.

Boulder Strong Ale Fest 2007. Body is very light yellow (almost colorless). Aroma is lightly hoppy (resin), with notes of insecticide, lemon zest, and honey. Flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, lightly acidic. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly acidic, unclean. Light to medium body, watery texture, soft carbonation. Oh man...this was pretty awful stuff. Really unclean.

Draught at 6th Boulder Strong Ale Festival. Pours clear light yellow with a spare, fizzy, white head, diminishing with no lacing. Aroma is average malt (hay, straw), average hops (flowers, grass), light yeast (sweat) with notes of honey and green olives. Medium bodied, gritty texture, average carbonation, and an astringent finish. Average duration, moderate sweetness, acidity, and bitterness.

Courtesy redlight. Pours a clear, light golden color with a small, fizzy, off-white film at the head. Drippy, spotty sheeting shows on the glass. The aroma starts with a very light honey base, followed by floral notes of lavender and heather, with a strangely dry, grassy hoppiness that just seems out of place. It smells earthy, perhaps even a little dirty, which is entirely out of character for a mead. Flavors aren’t really any better, based in watered down, stale honey that clashes with earthy, musty, grassy hops. Medium-light bodied for a mead, with a bit of a fizz that I don’t really care for, the palate perpetuates the letdown. Odd, and not very enjoyable.

sampled on tap at the 5th Boulder Strong Ale Fest. poured cloudy white with soapy small head. i really thought my brother in-law just rinsed his class and brought back water to drink. I asked him several times, why did you get water? to my surprise this was the beer. another 1 in appearance, 2nd ever and 2nd of the night! nose was weird metallic taste, really sweet and gross. the brother in-law said it tastes like paint and I’m still not sure how he knows that but it explains a lot about him. anyways, i hated this.

Unknown Date: Redstone Nectar of the Hops has a very pale golden/straw color. Its appearance reminds me of an American macro light lager. The aroms is moderately sweet with nice honey characteristics and is lightly citrusy. There is a good amount of honey flavor in the front with a light clover spiciness as well as a touch of citrus flavor. This mead has a very light amount of carbonation and a medium-light body that is neither too heavy nor too stick. Overall this is the best Redstone offering that I have had so far...

750 ml flip-top bottle (Alcohol 8% by Volume) shared by nvhall. Thanks Nick! Rating #14 for this mead.
