bigbeersrule (52), USA Mar 28, 2008 A really interesting twist to the typical sweet meads that Redstone makes. The mead was a nice golden color and was medium to dry in sweetness. A little hop aroma but not to much to overpower the honey. From what I understand the mead will not be made again for some time because of the hop shortage.Get it while you can.
thickfreakness (125), Stuck in Houston, Texas, USA Aug 17, 2008 Pours flat with no head. Looks like Chardonnay. Smell is huge fusel alcohol, nail polish, honey, and slight grassiness. Flavor is a lot better with oaky(?) honey, grassy hops and booze. Smooth and a little bit of spritzy carbonation. Worth a try buy just ok. BeerandBlues2 (2684), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA Apr 15, 2008 Draught at 6th Boulder Strong Ale Festival. Pours clear light yellow with a spare, fizzy, white head, diminishing with no lacing. Aroma is average malt (hay, straw), average hops (flowers, grass), light yeast (sweat) with notes of honey and green olives. Medium bodied, gritty texture, average carbonation, and an astringent finish. Average duration, moderate sweetness, acidity, and bitterness. bikesandbeers (429), San Diego, California, USA Feb 6, 2008 sampled on tap at the San Diego Strong Ale Festival Nov 2008, an event shared with what seemed liked hundreds of ratebeerians and enjoyed mostly through a straw, since my face was a bloody mess of scabs and stitches. very light in color with a honey sweet nose. taste is very sweet citrus with some hops, but only a little. after a day of imperial stouts, BW and IIPA this was quite refreshing, but not spectactular. WeeHeavySD (2188), San Diego (Hillcrest), California, USA Dec 1, 2007 PP Strong Ale Fest 07. Pours yellow with a mead induced sweet nose. Taste is sweet vinous and very very much a mead. hops are there yes but not much.
