Ungstrup (14754), Frederiksberg, Denmark Aug 26, 2008 A hazy amber mead. The aroma has alcohol burning in the nose together with medium notes of rasperries, while the flavor is acidic and with notes of the raspberries. scraff (1921), Baltimore, Maryland, USA Apr 5, 2008 Hazed apple juice color with oily legs painted on the glass. Intense sweet raspberry and honey aromas. Musty apple berry flavors from start to finish. Medium bodied and slick. Special thanks to David M for providing this tasty sample. Great mead...if you have the wallet for it.... BDR (2139), Roseville, Minnesota, USA Jun 2, 2007 Tasted at the fifth annual Colorado Wine Tasting Festival in Manitou Springs, CO. This poured a very nice blood orange color. Excellent raspberry nose. Thick, sweat syrup like body with raspberry taste. An excellent product but the $60 price tag for 50 cl is ...intimidating. shp555 (1678), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Apr 3, 2007 Pours a light pink color, no head. Aroma is of raspberries and honey. Flavor is a nice mix of raspberries and honey. Ernest (4481), Boulder, Colorado, USA Mar 23, 2006 2006 Intl Mead Fest.
No head (still).
Body is pinkish-amber.
Aroma is notes of raspberry and honey.
Flavor is heavily sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter.
Finish is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter.
Medium to full body, syrupy texture, flat carbonation, moderately alcoholic.
Surprisingly simple aroma for an aged mead...a lot of raspberries and not much else. Enjoyable only to a limited extent; ultimately too sweet and basic. luckygirl (1221), Boulder, Colorado, USA Feb 12, 2006 Sampled this at International Mead Fest, Boulder, Co. The mead poured a murky, dark rose color. The aroma was jam-packed with raspberry preserves with notes of vanilla, honey and some trace notes of higher alcohols. The flavor was heavily sweet, moderately bitter with a long, lightly sweet, slightly unclean-tasting finish. The body was medium-to-full, the texture was syrupy and it was uncarbonated.
