Commercial Description:
Style: Traditional
Traditional meads celebrate pure honey. This mead has no fruit, herbs, or spices added.
Ingredients Include: Colorado Water, Orange Blossom Honey, Wildflower Honey, Montrachet Yeast, and The Love!
Process: In order to preserve the delicate honey flavor, we pasteurize rather than boil.
Swing Top: Our resealable bottle preserves the quality of the mead more effectively than recorking a bottle. Reuse or recycle.
Serving Temperature: We suggest serving slightly chilled. However, feel free to excperiment as different nuances are revealed at different temperatures. Unfiltered, may contain sediment.

750 ml bottle, dated 4/20/05. Pours a slightly cloudy dark yellow with no head.

The aroma is sweet honey and floral cloves.

The flavor is a little orange fruitiness, some spicy cloves and then sweet honey. It has some sharper acidic wine-like alcohol and a dry finish. The alcohol helps balance out the honey sweetness. The mouthfeel is thick and syrupy with no carbonation.

Overall, I liked it. I don’t have much experience with meads but would like to try more. This was one of the ones I liked best at Redstone (other than the much more expensive reserves). A little expensive at $20 per 750ml.

I really didnt know what to focus on rating my second mead. poured light golden color with no carbonatation, which i expected. A sweet aroma with some almost peppermint notes. Taste was sweet with honey and faint orange and berry notes. A slight peppermint note as well. Alcohol seemed hidden.

Bottle at Fort Wayne Tasting. Flip top bottle with a production date of Dec. 22, 2004. No head, no lacing, no carbonation, transparent, and a pale yellow hue. Nose was honey, vinuous, sweet, and oranges. Flavor was dry, sweet, vinuous, honey, and oranges. Mouthfeel was slightly tingly and dry. Light body. Have had much better meads than this one.

From the swing top bottle at thedm’s. This mead smelled like honey and hair spray and was a still, very pale yellow-white color. Lots of raw honey sweetness with some oak. It was too sweet, like those Smarties candies.

This pretty blue flippy top bottled mead from a bottle shop was made on 12/22/04 and poured a clear head with no bubbles and a transparent uncarbonated light yellow-white colored body with no lacing. The aroma was of honey and wax. The mouth feel was weakly tingly at the start and strongly tingly at the finish. The flavor contained notes of thin honey and dry in the finish. A decent one but not one that I would consider buying again. There are much better meads out there.

bottle at the Fort Wayne tasting - Pours golden with a pleasant honey aroma. I’m very inexperienced with mead, but I don’t taste a lot going on with the flavor other than the enjoyable honey sweetness. I found the palate to be medium bodied and easy to drink. Hey, it was better than the only other mead I’ve tried. hah.

Very good light golden color. The aroma has a nice honey side with some slight tones of fruit in maybe a hint of pear or perhaps some over ripe apple.Light bodied mead with a very nice honey flavor not overly sweet in taste with a few hints at fruit in the back ground and just plain pleasant.I wouldn’t go so far as to say this is some outstanding mead, but it manages to hold it’s own quite well and would make a nice warmer on a cold night with a little light mulling spice.
