Commercial Description:
Style: Traditional
Traditional meads celebrate pure honey. This mead has no fruit, herbs, or spices added.
Ingredients Include: Colorado Water, Orange Blossom Honey, Wildflower Honey, Montrachet Yeast, and The Love!
Process: In order to preserve the delicate honey flavor, we pasteurize rather than boil.
Swing Top: Our resealable bottle preserves the quality of the mead more effectively than recorking a bottle. Reuse or recycle.
Serving Temperature: We suggest serving slightly chilled. However, feel free to excperiment as different nuances are revealed at different temperatures. Unfiltered, may contain sediment.

I like mead done this way. Thin, sweet, but not cloying. Pure honey. This is probably my favorite mead so far.

At the 2007 Big Beer, Belgians, & Barleywines Festival in Vail. pale yellow with no head. Very solid honey aroma. Flavor a delightful sugar infusion of intense honey. Delicious.

750 ml bottle, dated 4/20/05. Pours a slightly cloudy dark yellow with no head.

The aroma is sweet honey and floral cloves.

The flavor is a little orange fruitiness, some spicy cloves and then sweet honey. It has some sharper acidic wine-like alcohol and a dry finish. The alcohol helps balance out the honey sweetness. The mouthfeel is thick and syrupy with no carbonation.

Overall, I liked it. I don’t have much experience with meads but would like to try more. This was one of the ones I liked best at Redstone (other than the much more expensive reserves). A little expensive at $20 per 750ml.

Redstone Mead Promo @ Papago A honey gold color with the sweet aroma of honey and orange blossoms, quite a treat. Sweet wild flower honey taste, full in its feel to the palate, warm and inviting comes to mind when I think of the taste, distinct warming to the tummy and once again a great traditional style mead, sampled several different meads and all were absolutely exquisite.

Straw colour is, well, a little dull and not terribly enticing. Aroma is very honeyish, lightly spicy (cinnamon) and woody. Sweet flavour with brash honey character kicks things off. Lots of spicy depth. Finishes with an alcoholic kick, vinous acidity, and bursting juicy fruitiness.

Pours still, uncarbonated with a light golden color. Nice aroma of pure honey, crisp apples, and pears. Smooth. Profoundly honey flavor is well-rendered. In spite of the strong honey, the palate is not sweet. Is off-dry. Also has apples, flowers, white grapes, gentle perfume. Really mellow yet potent. Vanilla, some spice in the back of the throat, almost leaving a peasant astringency without being dry. I like this a lot!

Clear still gold in color with orange blossom honey aromas and hints of grassy menthol. Semi-sweet honey flavors round to soft fruity touch. Light bodied and smooth with a drying finish. Traditional indeed. Well done in my book....
