(Tap @ Redwood Lodge, Flint, MI): Dark brown-blackish color. Frothy off-white head. Chocolately roasted, malts. Coffee taste. Some alcohol taste.

Sample at the brewpub: Pours a dark brown color that allows very little light to penetrate. Thin beige head that has good retention, and a top ring of lacing and below that a scene like Missile Command. Sweet malty aroma with hints of coffee. Medium-bodied with a nice roasted malt and coffee flavor. The finish is dry and roasty with a flavorful hops aftertaste. Pretty enjoyable.

Nice deep dark color. A non exstint head. Had hoppy bitter chocolate flavor. Not as thick as I’d thought it would be. This beer really finishes strong, so beware if you don’t like that much bite in the end.

Draft, on premises. I found a good dark and toasty nose, with bitter chocolate flavor. A thin head per the style. Coffee notes come through while drinking, then leaves a good dry finish.

Lovely malty aroma but it's hard to track the malt into the mouth - once there the beer is thinnish, dominated by weedy bitters.

Kinda boring. Average dark roasted taste, unpleasant simple bitter aftertaste. Not offensive, just unremarkable. A little watery, actually.
