Ungstrup (11933), Frederiksberg, Denmark Jun 15, 2005 An amber beer with an off-white head. The aroma is sweet malty. While the flavor is sweet malty with notes of caramel - and something else that I can put a name on, but gives the beer a dryness - I wonder if this is the cotton? It is NOT the same as AZ Ale no. 16, since the declaration says cotton has been added.
Earlier Rating: 11/10/2002 Total Score: 3.7
A brown beer with almost no head. The aroma is sweet and fruity. The taste is very smooth and sweet of a very nice maltblend. One of the greatest danish beers. Papsoe (11421), Frederiksberg, Denmark Sep 21, 2007 (Bottle 33 cl) At the time of it’s introduction this was actually the only Danish ale - a lot has happened since then... Reddish brown, pretty much no head. A bit flat although CO2 has been added. Sweetish, malty, caramel-notes and some fruityness. Nice alright, but by todays standard nothing spectacular really. 240799
omhper (11033), Stockholm, Sweden Jun 11, 2002 Reddish amber. Fruity, mild and sweet with rather neutral finish, perhaps a hint of salty bitterness.
Hint of caramel. Pretty good, but not overly complex. yespr (8544), Copenhagen O, Denmark Oct 6, 2007 50 cL bottle. Pours see-through clear deep brown with a huge lasting light brown head. Nutty and slight fruity malt aroma. Nutty and caramel malt flavoured. Is medium sweet until the bitterness breakthrough into the finish. Nice. Oakes (7047), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Oct 11, 2005 Medium brown colour with thick mocha head. Unusual aroma captures rye bread, plums, toffee, hvidtol-like sugary maltiness and tangerines. Soft, creamy body. Sweet malts - rich as a malta but throwing off toffee, molasses and brown sugar notes. The esters are more subdued but still come through with plum accents. The finish is sweet if a shade watery. Fairly simplistic palate, but unusual. I’d drink it again.
