Ungstrup (11933), Frederiksberg, Denmark Jan 9, 2008 Bottled. Sampled 3 years old. A deep red beer with a medium tan head. The aroma is very sweet and quite complex with notes of grain, berries, alcohol, wood, and some spices. The flavor is very sweet with notes of malt, berries, grain, brown sugar, and licorice, leading to a dry slightly bitter finish with notes of wood. The body is sirupy. Papsoe (11421), Frederiksberg, Denmark Nov 12, 2005 (Bottle 33 cl) Beautiful, clear amber with a small, beige head. Sweetish, malty caramelish aroma. Quite full-bodied but considering the 8.4% ABV it’s almost thin! Extremely malty with a marked sweetness and distinct notes of caramel. Practically no bitterness. My guess is, that this is A-Z Ale speeded up with heaps of extra caramel malt and perhaps even malt aroma. Not a great brew. 081105 omhper (11033), Stockholm, Sweden Aug 18, 2008 Bottled. Mahogany colour, minimal head. Fruity nose. Sweet and medium bodied. Sweaty and un-firm, vague notes of coffee and over-ripe plums. Syrupy and strange, but with some odd rustic charm. yespr (8544), Copenhagen O, Denmark Sep 15, 2007 33 cL bottle. Pours amber, clear, with a crispy and somewhat lasting light orange head. Roasted caramel malt aroma. Soft sweet malty flavour with a mellow bitterness in the finish. Clear roasted note. Somewhat more sweet than the HP Bock but otherwise quite reminiscent of that. Nice. joergen (6951), Frederiksberg, Denmark Apr 5, 2006 Bottle.
Clear amber coloured with a small off white head.
Sweet aroma of malts, caramel and rye bread.
Very sweet flavour of malts and caramel.
Tastes like a hvidtøl.
