Ungstrup (11933), Frederiksberg, Denmark May 31, 2006 A black slush beer which gives it ice chunks sitting in the glass with the beer around it - and absolutely no head. The aroma is very vagely sweet - but too light - probably due to the low serving temperature. While the flavor is interesting, since it is like iced coffee - quite nice, and I believe quite refreshing in the sun on a hot summer day.
Earlier Rating: 5/15/2003 Total Score: 2.6
A black beer with a light brown head. The aroma is slightly smoked and slightly sweet. The flavor though is a boring flat stout flavor - next to no flavor. Papsoe (11421), Frederiksberg, Denmark May 22, 2006 Updated: May 31, 2007(Slushed) As "Refsvindinge Slush Ice Beer" Completely black and opaque with a small, off-white head. Distinct burned nose. Medium-bodied with marked, burned coffeeish accents and a distinct sweetness. No bitterness. Hard to take the slush thing seriously, but actually this beer is quite delicate. The brewer calls this a Double Chocolate Stout. 7/3/6/2/12=3 190506
Earlier Rating: 8/20/2005 Total Score: 2.9
(Bottle 33 cl) Voted Best New Beer 2003. Completely pitch black, very small head and the typical Refsvindinge lack of carbonation. Rather burned malty character with a good bitterness. A fine quencher. 080804 omhper (11033), Stockholm, Sweden May 12, 2003 Sampled draught at the Danish Beer Festival.
Dark black. Fatty chocolate aroma. Sweet and mild, overpoweringly discrete. All that remains is a vague note of chocolate wrapped up in cotton. yespr (8544), Copenhagen O, Denmark Oct 19, 2007 33 cL bottle. Pours dark brown, almost black. Has a light brown and dense head, quickly collapsing into a little lacing head. Roasted malt aroma with a very minor citrus fruity note. Roasted malt flavour with a mild chocolate smoothness. Has a minor metallic note. Ends mellow and smooth roasted malty, only a very mild bitterness. Oakes (7047), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Oct 12, 2005 Very dark brown. Cheap coffee and cheaper chocolate aroma, like a liquid Coffee Crisp. Straightforward palate is quite fudgey, with chocolate undertones. The finish is rather thin, allowing some nuttiness to show through. Lacks the roast and hop bitterness of a true stout, and the thinness belies any attempt to appreciate it as a porter. I have a soft spot for farmhouse breweries, so I really wanted to like it, but this just doesn’t make the grade.
