Watery, light in Saaz hops, not very good, uninspired. Can find a lot better pretty easily.

I have not heard of this style of beer until recently. Only brewed in a small part of the world. Looks like an average pilsner. Yellow, big white head, very carbonated. The flavor is what seperates this from the rest. It a full flavor and dry, still leaves a bit sticky. Has a hint of toffee and a pinch of salt. Think of the saltiness of Warstiner and you’ll get the picture. Doesn’t taste watery like other lighter beers. I wish Reissdorf was more accessible, cause I could drink it anytime.

Clear yellow pour with a huge white head that takes up half the glass but quickly subsides. Straw honey and acorn aroma sweet at first then a straw flavor comes up. Leaves a bit of fruit in the finish. A lingering honeycomb flavor also. This finish has most of the flavor. Not bad, easy enough to drink and quenching. Ap-3 ar-6 tas-6 pal-4 ov-14

Bottle: Clear, straw golden coloured, stable small to medium sized quite firm head; light sweet-grainy nose with a fruity and a hoppy touch; slightly sweetish-fruity (citrousy) and a bit bitter flavour; fruity (citrousy again) quite dry finish with a light, but distinctive bitterness. A well made, pleasant and tasty Kölsch !

The bottle poured a sparkling clear golden yellow beverage with a medium sized frothy white head that was mostly diminishing and left little lacing on the glass. The aroma was nicely balanced with the hops represented by a light grassy aroma and the malt, by a light white bread aroma. There was an odd subtle note of dusty milk lurking the background though. The body was medium to light with a soft carbonation and a dry texture. The flavor started off with a light bitterness and the long finish was just a bit more bitter. There was a bit of a warming quality to the finish.

Last Kölsch I had blew me away and it was brewed some 10,000 k’s from its namesake origin. This one was another story. bottling a beer that was born and bred in casks to be served in its city of origin is always a dare and I don’t think it payed off for this. Poured into a stumpy flute. Sunny yellow gold in body with a persistent layer of white foam that left few legs. Pears and dusty, pale malts dominate the aroma with a weird blend of milk and sourgrass coming in late. Soft, soapy and watered down wine-like in the mouth like a cheap ’dry-white’. Prickly carbonation tickled the front of the tongue before flattening out through to the swallow. Light notes of pear and grass, boiled eggs and flour-paste make for the subtleties that thankfully have no real character to play. As demanding as a glass of tonic water with lemon, I’d say this would be better downed fresh in Köln. (33cL, 07/08/06, Morley Liquor Merchants)

Pure gold body, urine color, very little white head. Fruity aroma, some light hops are also evident. Hoppy body, light citrus accents. Very thin ending.

Clear pale yellow color with a thin white head. Aroma of sweet honey and hints of grain. Sweet honey flavor with hints of raw wheat.
