Dacrza (186), Great Meadows, New Jersey, USA Aug 25, 2008 A bubbly yellow gold body supports a pure white fluffy head in an Ayinger altbier glass... a bit of hops and a bit of wheat to aid the smoothness with little complexity, as per the style-- this is one SUMMER SLAMMING beer! Slightly creamy, soft, medium-bodied offering--I like its presenceand the subsequent effortless drinkability... strong metallic malts, almost pilsneresque... slight fruitiness, but not overt... a bit bready too... as Michael Jackson calls this a "delicate" style, I too find little difference between this and others, whether it be Gaffel or Saranac... but this isn’t a bad thing, knowing the style’s limitations and the pleasant drinking rewards...
grikmok (69), Baton Rouge, Louisiana, USA Jan 3, 2009 Poured into a pilsner. The aroma was not strong, though hints of yeast and fizz can be detected. The color of the beer was golden and the white head disappeared rapidly. Initial flavor of light yeast and carbon dioxide. Ended with not much taste. Not memorable. tarheels86 (267), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA Jan 2, 2009 Bottle. Pours a clear yellow with a decent white head that dissipates to almost nothing. Sweet, grainy nose with some light hops and citrus. Taste is like a sweeter, creamier helles lager with some biscuit thrown in there. Very light and refreshing. Not bad. KimJohansen (5208), Copenhagen V, Denmark Dec 30, 2008 Clear golden with a large white head. Hoppy flavour with malty and caramel notes. Sweet malty flavour with with caramel and hints of hops. SuperDave70 (1002), Beautiful Sunny Mesa, Arizona, USA Dec 19, 2008 Clear gold color with a foamy head. Aroma and flavor of malt, grain citrus and light hops. Not a lot going on here, but a decent refreshing beverage. MesandSim (4724), Highgate, Greater London, England Dec 14, 2008 A Mes rate. Bottle at Quinns. You know the drill. Gold, clean, balanced malt and hops, faintly bitter finish, straight forward. This, ladies and germs is a kolsch. Not a great one, not a bad one. Just a standard one.
