Aroma is deffinatly roasted caramel malts with a hint of the rye. Flavor is very bready with some spice and rye. Leaves a earthyness on the tounge after the swallow. Not as over the top as Founders red rye but this is a tasty brew for a good cause. carruthm (1175), Seattle, Washington, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 11, 2008 This poured a reddish orange body with a short-lived beige head. Has a juicy, malty aroma along with some apples, black pepper, and a light earthy bitterness. Thick and oily in the mouth. The flavor seemed earthy in both malt and hops. There’s a slight presence of orchard fruit, the lively spiciness of rye, and an herbal bitterness. Not bad. There seems to be an aweful lot of rye beers out there for them to be concerted "Specialty Grain" brews much longer.

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 11, 2008 Dark amber (almost red) with beige to off-white head. A small amount of spotty lacing present. Fresh toast aroma with a twist of hops. Malts, rye and hops dominate the flavor, however I agree with Jrob_21 "overall I think the rye malt holds this one back from being a little more exciting."

Flavor is dominated by a smooth hoppiness with some background rye character. Drinkable but not special. jrob21 (1278), Atlanta, Georgia, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | May 7, 2008 Pours deep red color with almost no head. Faint aroma of rye malt. Some toasted grain and bread like aromas in there as well. Tastes of sweet caramel. Very smooth and easy to drink but lacking an incredible amount of complexity. Faint english style hops on the finish to give a bit of a bitterness. Overall I think the rye malt holds this one back from being a little more exciting. doubleo (1121), San Diego, California, USA

Smells malty, a touch sweet, and a little nutty smelling, peanuts of course. Tastes sweet and malty with some red fruits up front with the spice and hops coming in on the finish. Medium body, nice carbonation.
