Commercial Description:
This year’s beer is an Organic Red Rye Ale, once again brewed in cooperation with Bison Brewing in Chico, CA. It is a reddish-amber colored beer, with a pronounced malt forward profile balanced by the delicate spices of the hops and rye. It is 6.5% alcohol by volume.

It was odd to see a Bison beer in Colorado so I bought it, plus charity is cool. The color is dark red with a short head. The smell is spicy malts. The taste is also spicy but the rye is not overwhelming. Easy to drink but I would not want more than one. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 03-26-2008 03:38:25 id: 647914

Shared at the Butters Big Blowout. Clear orange pour with small ring of white head. Sugary caramel malty with twinges of alcohol heat on the aroma. Flavor is a little oakey, which i guess is the ’rye’ quality. More sweet caramel malt. A little syrupy bitter sweet on the finish.

Nose reminds me of caramelized sweet vidalia onion aromas, fluffy light rye. Great beer

Butters Big Blowout tasting - Pours a hazy copper. Aroma of sweet malts with hint of rye. Similar taste but with a smoky hop finish. Lingering dry aftertaste. Enjoyable

Bottle at Butters Big Cellar Blowout! Pours an amber body and an off-white head. Brown sugar, spicy hops, and some rye. Taste caramelized malts and some rye...like honey-butter on rye bread. I like the hops on the finish.

22oz. bottle. Spicy, fruity aroma, lightly sweet, fresh and bready, with notes of caramel apple, citrus, red grape, toasty malts, dusty grains and the distinctive touch of rye in the foreground. Cloudy medium-dark red color, with a lasting, light tan head. Flavor is sweet and spicy, the rye and caraway seemingly apparent throughout, with plenty of toffeeish malt sweetness, pepper, dark bread, and a touch of earthy, herbal hop character and very mild bitterness. Smoothly effervescent mouthfeel, body is medium. Really not bad, I found that I consumed the bomber rather quickly.

I thought this was a nice quality brew. Nice nose of malt. Dark, copper color. Very nice mouthfeel. Definitely not thin, but not too thick of body. Just right. Sweet malt and balanced. $3.00 for 22 oz. bottle at Tacoma Boys, you can’t beat the price.

Crimson brew with a nice 1/4 inch khaki head. Smooth and refreshing. Caramel malt, toffee, and brown sugar; both in the nose and flavor. Can really only detect the rye in the finish. Nice carbonation. Sweet but not cloying.
