Drnk_McDermott (1506), Park Forest, Illinois, USA Jul 4, 2008 Bomber from Sam’s Wines, Downers Grove. Deep brown ale color, thin light head. Nut brown ale smell, with extra rye spiciness. I never cared for caraway in my rye, but let’s see. Slides out of my shaker glass pretty nicely. Caraway does not bother me, it’s just well blended in to a style that can throw off some nice spicy notes anyway. Nutty. Carbonation tilts a bit to the creamy slide. Honey on a biscuit as we approach the finish. A great balance of spices that complements a rich malty body, aided by a cut back on the West Coast hops to a well-done Noble spiciness. Sammy (2946), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jul 4, 2008 Found at Grape of Mirth, Colombus, Ohio. Light brown with significant head. Smooth and lacey. A malty taste and aroma. FunkyBrewster (83), Chicago, Illinois, USA Jul 2, 2008 Pours a dark ruby reddish brown color. Small white froth that dissipated quickly. Aroma is very spicy and bready, very pleasant and different. Somewhat sweet and hoppy as well. Flavor starts out with a nice strong spice hoppiness and the heavy malt shows through in the somewhat bitter finish. Medium bodied and quite rich, this is a tasty beer that has a great mouth feel. BeerandBlues2 (2370), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA Jul 2, 2008 22-oz bottle purchased at Coaltrain Wine & Liquor, Colorado Springs, CO. Pours clear brown with a small, fizzy, off-white head, somewhat lasting with fair lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (caramel, grain, cookie), average hops (perfume, flowers), light yeast (dough) with notes of toasted caraway seeds, spiced apples, and toffee. Medium bodied, sticky texture, lively carbonation, and a chalky finish. Average duration, light sweetness, moderate acidity and bitterness. matt7215 (482), Cambridge, Ontario, Canada Jul 1, 2008 22 ox bottle shared with sammy and hyde. sammy’s bottle. pours amber with a small off white head and steady carbonation. aroma are malt driven with some spiciness from the rye. hops were missing from the aroma. flavours were well constucted with some grainy caramel aspect that i belive came from the caraway that was included in this brew. smooth and medium bodied. would make a great tap addition to any beer bar. thanks sammy.
