Commercial Description:
This year's beer is an Organic Red Rye Ale, once again brewed in cooperation with Bison Brewing in Chico, CA. It is a reddish-amber colored beer, with a pronounced malt forward profile balanced by the delicate spices of the hops and rye. It is 6.5% alcohol by volume.

22 oz bottle. Pours a very pale copper, clear, with some foamy off white head that was mostly diminishing. Aroma of malts and rye, and maybe some sweat socks, something funky for sure. Initial flavor of malts and rye, and again something funky. After taste was dry and metallic and long lasting. No lacing, lots of carbonation, light body, and light in the alcohol presence. Another disappointing beer, problem is it is for a great cause, maybe I’ll donate money to the foundation next time instead of drinking this again.

22oz bomber bottle. Deep ruby red-brown color. Sugar amber malt characteristics, with that adjuncty sweetness that rye can impart. The aroma is cinnamon or nutmeg-like, I suppose my detective instinct would lead me to believe caraway seed..something unexpected. This beer further proves that rye is best used in moderation, unless of course you are talking about the Jersey City variety. This beer is well balanced in some ways, but I really am not into the rye base. For me, this beer is dedicated to Candy Dona of Quarryville PA, one of the finest women to have walked the planet. May her memory live on.

Bomber. Clear iced tea with a wisp of an off white head. Sweet caramel and earthy spices dominate the nose. Earthy flavors, caraway seed is apparent now, as is the rye influence. Nice lace. Lingering spicy-sweet finish. Very drinkable. RIP, Virginia.

Slightly hazy, reddish brown appearance with a tiny, off white head and no lacing. Muted aroma with grainy malts poking their way through, followed by spicyness. Some caramel malt sweetness in the taste pairs up with the rye. Not sure if the spicy flavor is coming from the hops or the rye, but it is enough to add balance and interest. Could not detect the caraway seeds noted on the label. Medium-bodied, decently carbonated mouthfeel. Earthy edge to the lingering finish.

a light amber pour with a medium size head. sweet malt aroma. flavors of toasted rye molding with a sweeter carmel malt and light earthy notes. light bitterness in the finish with a hint of warmth. definately enjoyable and for a great cause as well.

Bottle from Bevmo in Solana Beach. This beer pours a ruby-brown color with a thin and fizzy off-white head that burns away quickly. Spotty lacing on the glass. Aroma of grain, malt and acetone. Light-bodied with flavors of malt, perfumed hops and paint thinner. The finish is grainy and malty with an astringent finish. Not very enjoyable at all.
