Alcoholic flavor with lots of wood, lime, melon and lychee. Malty. The beer reamains (too) alcoholic, but the wood and the layers of fruit improve the complexity of this beer.

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 28, 2009 Bottle @ GBBF: Aromas of sticky feet, dry mango and sweet nectarine. In the mouth you are attacked by a crazy sweet/sour mango/banana which subsides to (including but not strictly limited to) pineapple, garbage juice, creamy stilton and vanilla yoghurt. A weird brew. Not sickening but vaguely unpleasant. Miksu (2220), Jyväskylä, Finland
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Oct 27, 2009 Bottled. Hazy amber color. Pungent grapefruity hop aroma. Bitter and grapefruity flavor with white wine, mustard and yeast. Bitter, mentholy yeasty and woody finish. Better than the base but this still too pungent and yeasty. There is certainly a woody mouthfeel but the aroma and flavor is very hop-forward. MesandSim (5851), London, Greater London, England

Totally unique and REALLY tasty. The Nelson Sauvin comes through much more then the Reference version. There is that strange potato chip not again but it’s great. I know that’s not what it is but it’s what my mind is connecting it to. Whatever it works really well. Excellent dryness and drinkability. Amazing wheat, corn, meat and Nelson Sauvin finish. WTF? Corn and meat??? In a good way? Honestly. Love it. Incredible Nelson Sauvin amonia and lychee and tropical aftertaste. Again totally unique. Top job Alex. jbrus (4864), Delft, Netherlands

I don’t know what exactly it was but this is not my beer. Was it the overwhelming fruit combined with wood? The sharp and present alcohol? Maybe it’s just that Blond Ale’s don’t go with barrel ageing. Drain pour! BTW, Imperial IPA??? sfhodense (574), Odense NØ, Denmark

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 9, 2009 bottle 375 ml from GBBF 2009. Thank you JanneK. Golden orange, white lacing head. Interesting wooden kick in first sip heavy malty and then strong floral hops in aftertaste astringing slightly dry finish. The best of my recent after sauna beers. Imbossible to compare with other woods in this serie.
