Draught at the Shanghai Chineese restaurant in Bochum, Germany. On December 31, 2008. Thought it was a regular beer when I ordered it, noticed fast that it was a mix, too bad. Clear dark brown color, rocky brown head. Sweet, spicy, lemon taste. Lemon scent. Smooth mouthfeel, low bitterness.

This is the Rhenania Alt with added caramel. So, it is dark red/brown in colour with a sickly sweet caramel aroma. Initially, it seems Alt-like - then the cloying sweetness sticks to the palate. Oddly sweet, without being malty or having body. Perhaps a beer for a dessert course or for children to drink.
