Bottle. Another sweet US barleywine. Probably a little too sweet for me. caramelly sweetness from the malt, piney, fruity hop notes. With alcoholic warmth at the end. Probably a little too much for me in terms of the sweetness, but ther is some nice flavours.

Picked up a 22 during the 5th Richmond Gathering pubcrawl. Pours a deep, slightly murky amber, with practically no head. Aroma of thick caramel, molasses, and brown sugar. Very little carbonation. Flavor is sweet dark caramel, sugary finish. There are some hops floating in the background to give a bit of a cooked grapefruit note, but that is almost entirely obliterated by the sugar overload. Not quite there yet, but I hope they keep playing with this style.

LCRBM2. Murky brown. Flowery hops, light chocolate, vineous. Complex flavor - Flowery and fruity (orangepeel), wooden, roasted finish. Good chewy body.

LCRBM2: Vinous caramelly aroma. Malty. Alcoholic flavor, the alcohol burns down all other flavors, in fact.

No head left; hazy dark-red/brown beer. American hops, chocolate cake, and a bit of piney resins. Hoppy, chocolate, vinous but nowhere distinctive. A stereotypic American Barley Wine tastewise. Alcoholburn, malt overload, fusels, dry finish. If you’re looking for anything BUT discreet, there’s a starter. Then go to 3 Floyds Dreadnaught.

Bottled, LCRBM. Pleasant and strong malty, fruity aroma. Hazy, brown color, small off-white head, fair lace. Sweet, fruity and lots of hops. A heavy beer yet still very drinkable.

[2nd Low Countries RateBeer meeting] Aroma of malts, sherry and fruits. Aroma is quite good. Hazy brown coloured with no head. Taste is sweet, siruppy-malty, fruity and some alcohol. Sticky finish.

Draught at the brewpub. Clear dark ruby color with thin off white head. Strong alcohol/wine aroma with a syrupy malt note. Slick, oily, and sweet. Alcohol finish warms the tongue and lingers a while. Very strong and cloying overall.
