Pours black with medium head. There is a red hue. Smell of chocolate and alcohol. Lasting malt finish. Not a lot of flavor with this one. This is by far the best Rich Brau I’ve had.

clear dark red, whispy tan head, touch of lace, dry chocolate aroma with a hint of roasted, lots of dry chocolate flavor, good balancing bitterness to keep it dry, bitter finish with a hint of astrengent malt bitterness

Nice cocoa caramel aroma. Medium to slightly heavy body. Good bottle. Tangy bitter chocolate, fairly dry. As it warms you can pick up parched peanuts in addition to the coffee and baker’s cocoa. Easy drinking, but with good character.

on tap-pours a light tan head and dark brown with red tint/mahogany. Aroma is dark malt-molasses, crisp. Taste is dark malt-molasses/chocolate, secondary crisp hops bitterness. Faint coffee. OK carbonation. Occasional.

On tap at the brewpub. Deep brown with a small tan head. Mildly sweet nose, light chocolate, nutty, a bit of coffee. Flavor is pretty mild, nutty chocolate and light coffee. Light bodied and low on carbonation.

Heavy caramel in the aroma accompanied by chocolate and toasted notes. Not nearly enough coffee or burnt flavors for me to consider this one a porter. Surprisingly sweet, too sweet to be exact. A little thin too, this one is more like an overly sweet nut-brown ale....

Thanks to Numenor for this one. Hard to pinpoint this one. Should be a porter kinda tastes like homebrew, which isn’t bad at all, especially if you’ve tried some good homebrew. But I’m not quite sure if this could be a true porter. The start is a little sour and the finish is really dry. Not getting a whole lot of porter out of it except for some fleeting moments on the palate. Not bad, not great.

Dark ruby brown. Cookie malt in the aroma with slight chocolate. Body is thin. Really could use a little beefing up in the malt department to be a truly good porter.
