Heavy caramel, chocolate and maybe some hints of butterscotch in the aroma. Taste is very nice for a porter, coffee tones, malt backbone. Somewhat thin and watery ending. maniac (2628), Richmond, Virginia, USA

| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Nov 12, 2005 A good porter, rich, somewhat sweet and tasty, but not something I’d drive to Richmond just to get. This was a typical porter, roasty, not too heavy and not too sweet. jmuhops (663), Winchester, Virginia, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Sep 29, 2005 Pours black with a perfect-size off-white head. Aroma of roasted malts and sweet chocolate. Very subtle, but delicious, flavor. Pretty sweet up front, with a roasted malt bitterness at the end. There’s a very light metallic aftertaste that gets in the way. Surprisingly good.

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 15, 2005 This did pour dark with ruby highlights, as the bottle said. There was something off with this brew. The taste and smells were typical for a porter, but.. The finish had some funky taste, that ruined the after taste.
