clear dark red, whispy tan head, touch of lace, dry chocolate aroma with a hint of roasted, lots of dry chocolate flavor, good balancing bitterness to keep it dry, bitter finish with a hint of astrengent malt bitterness

(9/1/06, draft) Tan head with cola-brown body. Aroma is moderately sweet, chococoffee, some molasses. Taste is medium sweet, coffee, chocolate, light cherry. Creamy medium body, low carbonation. (6/3/7/3/13)

(6/19/05, draft) Dark brown body with creamy tan head. Aroma is medium sweet, coffee, light molasses. Taste is medium sweet, come caramel, then the back half is coffee with some chocolate, earthy. A bit of mint in the finish. Light-medium body seemed light for the style. (5/3/6/2/11)

22oz bottle shared courtesy of weeare138. Poured a medium to deeper brown color with a small sized off white head. Aromas of roast and chocolate. Tastes of, well big nasty. Sour and tart. I see other people mention sour...the sourness drowned out anything else and made me dump my glass.

on tap-pours a light tan head and dark brown with red tint/mahogany. Aroma is dark malt-molasses, crisp. Taste is dark malt-molasses/chocolate, secondary crisp hops bitterness. Faint coffee. OK carbonation. Occasional.

Bottle courtesy of dkachur/ Pours brown with a thin white head. Smells earthy with some mellow chocolatey hints. Tastes tarte with some malty hints. Not very good.

Appearance: hazed brown with velvet grey , mid light top , fizzy centre.
Nose: Roasty with sweet cocoa , slight milky feel. Clean burnt barley aroma. Very nice. 7+
Flavor/Palate : Mid bodied. Brown malts , smooth clear with feel of chocolate. Bitter finish. Good character shown.

There's some staying power in the head here, but it looks more like a red beer. The beer is smooth, nutty, malty and slightly hoppy. If you'd told me this was a brown ale, I'd say AWESOME, but listed as a porter, it's a bit weak.

Pours a VERY dark brown with a medium brown head. Aroma is surprisingly sweet with hints of milk chocolate. The taste is bittersweet chcolate and light hints of coffee. Some bittering hops come through towards the end. Smooth feeling on the palate but slightly oily. The finish is semisweet with a little more of the hops making their presence felt. Damn good porter!
